    Marriage Matters

Nineteen Sunday in Ordinary Time

(1Kings 19: 4-8 Ephesians 4: 30-32 5: 1-2 John 6: 41-51)

To love as God loves

When we married we became a flesh and blood sacrament. Today, Jesus says “I am the bread of life”. We are ‘food and drink’ for each other. Let’s continue to nourish one another in our marriages, in all those little ways, with tender words and loving actions and become more a ‘sign’ of God’s love for the world.

“The personal encounter with Christ through reading the Word of God together at home constitutes an inspired source of daily living for couples.”

The Synod Fathers

“MARRIAGE MATTERS offers a wonderful resource to couples to help them relate to the Sunday scripture readings and so enhance their love for one another."

Bishop Peter Doyle

MARRIAGE MATTERS are inspiring and very human considerations which can sow seeds of hope, offer meaningful challenges and encourage an openness in couples to deepen their relationship with each other and with God.

Bishop Jean Laffitte, Secretary to the Pontifical Council for the Family, has himself written the very positive and encouraging Foreword for this unique online resource.

We encourage you to download and use these in your Parish and Diocesan newsletters, anywhere that will help raise the profile of marriage.
