TWO IN ONE FLESH
Twenty-Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time
(Wisdom 2:12, 17-20 James 3:16-4:3 Mark 9:30-37)
Selfish ambition versus intimacy
The readings illustrate the struggle between peacemakers and those driven by jealousy and selfish ambition - is that us? Together, we can regulate what we do as a couple, knowing each other so intimately. Our consciences can be reinforced by the extent we are prepared to be open and honest with each other. What do we choose?
“The personal encounter with Christ through reading the Word of God together at home constitutes an inspired source of daily living for couples.”
The Synod Fathers
“MARRIAGE MATTERS offers a wonderful resource to couples to help them relate to the Sunday scripture readings and so enhance their love for one another."

MARRIAGE MATTERS are inspiring and very human considerations which can sow seeds of hope, offer meaningful challenges and encourage an openness in couples to deepen their relationship with each other and with God.
Bishop Jean Laffitte, Secretary to the Pontifical Council for the Family, has himself written the very positive and encouraging Foreword for this unique online resource.
We encourage you to download and use these in your Parish and Diocesan newsletters, anywhere that will help raise the profile of marriage.
